Due to the rapidly changing situation and spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), CTA is cancelling the 2020 Good Teaching Conference – South and Pre-Conferences scheduled to begin Friday, March 13th, in Garden Grove.

This was not an easy decision, as we had an amazing conference planned and were eager to see all of you, but the health and safety of our students, educators and all their families are our top priority as we navigate this changing situation. We are certainly in uncharted waters, and we appreciate your understanding and patience. Please see below for cancellation details.

CTA will work with the Hyatt Regency Orange County along with our overflow blocks at the Anaheim Marriott Suites and the Sheraton Anaheim South to cancel all hotel reservations within the CTA blocks. If you booked outside of the CTA block or at a different hotel, then you will be responsible for cancelling your own reservation.

CTA will cancel all the conference registrations and refund any payments received.

  • If you had a balance due on your registration, then this will automatically be removed.
  • If you paid via credit card, then CTA will refund those charges directly to the card on file.
  • If you paid by check, then CTA will process check refunds to the appropriate party. If your chapter or district paid by check, please forward this notice to those individuals.

If you have any questions regarding this conference cancellation, please contact the CTA Conference Coordination Center at 650.552.5355 or email goodteachingconference@cta.org.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. But in this rapidly changing environment we are putting the health and safety of our members, our students and our families first. Please be safe as you work in your schools and classrooms.

The CTA Good Teaching Conferences continue to support excellent teaching and learning practices for classroom teachers via peer-to-peer instruction. Offering a variety of diverse workshops focused on curriculum content areas for K-12 teachers, the conferences provide opportunities for professional development and offer time to network and share ideas with colleagues and experts in the field of education. Join us on Friday for one of three pre-conferences.

Last minute addition to the program: keynoter, Steven Van Zandt – Check out his video about TeachRock.org below:

Your experience at the Good Teaching Conference is equal parts educational and transformational.  You’ll learn new skills and find solutions to real-life challenges.  You’ll leave the conference feeling inspired, motivated and with a knowledge of what you need to do to be even more successful on Monday morning in your classroom.  Download this Reasons to Attend GTC letter and share it with your principal to prove the value of attending the Good Teaching Conference.

Want to send a group of teachers to the GTC? Download this letter and send it to your Principal or District Superintendent.  Many districts are open to sending educators to meaningful and inspiring training conferences. Remember, CTA members are only $195.  Non-member pricing is $585.

  • IEP rights and responsibilities of general and special education teachers and education support professionals
  • Inclusive instructional and behavioral practices at the elementary and secondary level
  • Understanding the universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations of the Smarter Balanced Assessment
