Event description

ORGANIZE

On the horizon are constant challenges to the labor movement that will impact the work we do as an organization. The Presidents Conference will provide new and returning presidents a foundation to rely upon as we prepare our chapters well into the future. This conference will host a variety of informative skill building sessions and provide opportunities to build lasting relationships with other presidents. The content focus and design of Presidents Conference is with chapter operations in mind.

CONNECT

The Presidents Conference will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. The Fairmont offers luxury rooms at a special reduced conference price and excellent training facilities. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of San Jose with shopping, entertainment and dining options within walking distance.

ENGAGE

The conference begins on Thursday with the arrival of new presidents and second year new presidents. Presidents will engage in core sessions especially tailored to assist them in learning their new role as local leaders.

Beginning Friday, all returning and new presidents will spend the next few days attending workshops that will explore issues and provide training designed to enhance their skills as a local president and help build systems of success for their local chapter.

University Credit Available

CTA Conferences are approved for university credit through the CSU Chico Department of Education. One semester unit of credit is available for Returning Presidents and two units are available for New Presidents with full participation. The cost is $60 per unit. Click here to purchase the unit.

Professional Growth Hours Available

Professional Growth credit will be available at no cost for CTA members and will be emailed within two weeks of the conference.

Transportation/Travel Reimbursement

Transportation is reimbursed for one chapter president or designee per chapter. The reimbursement will be based on the most economical coach round trip airfare based on a 21 day advance purchase, or mileage equal to IRS rate, currently 58 cents a mile with a maximum of the cost of airfare. Reimbursement does not include the cost of any parking expenses or travel between home and the local airport (unless the round trip distance between your home and the nearest airport is more than 100 miles).

If a second officer from a chapter attends, all transportation costs for the second officer are the chapter’s responsibility. Airport parking is the responsibility of the chapter. To access the travel reimbursement form, please click here.
