Event description

The CTA Good Teaching Conferences continue to support excellent teaching and learning practices for classroom teachers via peer-to-peer instruction. Offering a variety of diverse workshops focused on curriculum content areas for K-12 teachers, the conferences provide opportunities for professional development and offer time to network and share ideas with colleagues and experts in the field of education. Join us on Friday for two newly updated and timely pre-conferences.

Your experience at the Good Teaching Conference is equal parts educational and transformational.  You’ll learn new skills and find solutions to real-life challenges.  You’ll leave the conference feeling inspired, motivated and with a knowledge of what you need to do to be even more successful on Monday morning in your classroom.  Download this Reasons to Attend GTC letter and share it with your principal to prove the value of attending the Good Teaching Conference.

Want to send a group of teachers to the GTC? Download this letter and send it to your Principal or District Superintendent.  Many districts are open to sending educators to meaningful and inspiring training conferences. Remember, CTA members are only $195.  Non-member pricing is $585.

University Credit Available

CTA Conferences are approved for university credit through the CSU Chico Department of Education. One unit of University Credit is available to those attending the main conference. A second unit of University Credit is available to those attending a Pre-Conference.  If attending a Pre-Conference only, a reflection paper is due one week after the conclusion of the Conference. The cost is $60 per unit. Click here to purchase the unit.

Professional Growth Hours Available

Professional Growth credit will be available at no cost for CTA members and will be emailed within two weeks of the conference.

Retirement Savings Made Easy (10:00am - 4:00pm)

CTA wants to help members realize their retirement dreams. This is a core union value and great way to engage local members. That’s why we are offering a one-day pre-conference to discuss what you need to know about your retirement plans. We’ll share with you some easy tools to help you choose the right type of savings for your retirement account. We invite local leaders, membership chairpersons, and/or site reps to the conference to help them in their journey and identify opportunities to build an organizing campaign around this important issue in the local. This pre-conference is free for CTA members. CTA will arrange for and pay for release time for first time participants (with priority given to new leaders and site reps) with the approval of your chapter president*. We encourage the chapter president to approve release time for one or more newer leaders, site reps, and members. Chapters may send members to one or more conferences. Additional information can be found on www.CTAGo.org.

IFT Teacher Innovation Expo (10:00am - 5:00pm)

Join us at the Pre-GTC #IFTExpo20 where you will be inspired by a glimpse at how educational dreams came true for forty-two CTA members in 2019-2020. The Institute for Teaching (IFT) awards Educator Grants (up to $5,000) and Impact Grants (up to $20,000) and distributed nearly $600,000 for classroom projects and activities thanks to our members' voluntary dues contributions! Meet the teachers who received these grants. Ask them questions. Get help with the grant writing process. Get ready to submit your proposal for the 2020-2021 school year! Dreams do come true!
