Statewide Conference Incentive Grants

The CTA Board of Directors will award Minority and Small Chapter Incentive Grants for attendance at the following statewide conferences: Presidents Conference and Summer Institute.

Presidents Conference
Application Deadline: Monday, May 7, 2018
Location: Fairmont Hotel, San Jose
Conference Date: July 19-22, 2018

CTA provides four types of grants for Presidents Conference participants. By completely filling out all the information in the application, you will be considered for any grant types for which you are qualified.

Small Chapter Grants – These grants are available for the president or designee from chapters with a unit size* of 50 or fewer and six (6) grants for the president or designee from chapters with a unit size of 51 to 100. Pays for housing based on two conference participants per room, the registration and transportation costs.

Minority Incentive Grants – These grants are provided to members belonging to one of the following racial ethnic groups: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Hispanic and Pacific Asian American.

First Time Chapter Participation Grants – For chapters of 150 members or fewer. This grant pays for housing based on two conference participants per room, the registration and transportation costs.

New Presidents Grants (chapters of 1,000 or fewer) – This grant pays for the registration fee and transportation only. Housing expenses are the responsibility of the chapter, Service Center or the individual.

ESP Grants – Grants are available to Education Support Professionals only.

Summer Institute
Application Deadline: Monday, May 7, 2018
Location: Los Angeles – UCLA
Conference Date: July 29-August 2, 2018

Minority Incentive Grants (available for the Communications Strand, IPD Strand and all tracks in the Bargaining and Finance Strand) – For all conferences, CTA provides incentive grants for minority members who have minimum experience in chapter activities. The purpose of the grant is to encourage minority involvement in the leadership of our chapters. Minority Incentive Grants are provided to members belonging to one of the following racial-ethnic groups: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Multi-Ethnic, Hispanic and Pacific Asian American.

Small Chapter Grants – Grants to participants from small chapters will be awarded to recipients from chapters with a unit size* of 100 or fewer. Grants will be awarded to recipients from small chapters without regard to the strand the recipient will attend.

Emerging Leaders Strand Grants – grants will be awarded to participants in the Emerging Leaders Strand. The recipient will be an active member who has exhibited leadership potential but has not been elected chapter president. The recipient can be a newly elected executive officer, association representative, committee member or representative to the NEA Representative Assembly.

New Member Grants – Grants are available to anyone that is in their first five years of membership with CTA.

ESP Grants – Grants are available to Education Support Professionals only.
