One of the first programs developed by Autodesk was Drafting For Printers. It was released on October 14, 1984 and was originally called Autocad Graphic. With this initial version, Autodesk first introduced the concept of a CAD program to be used on a personal computer. This marked the beginning of the modern CAD revolution, as a CAD operator no longer needed to sit at a terminal, but could take their work with them. This was followed up with the release of AutoCAD, in December of that year. AutoCAD is primarily an architectural program, but it has capabilities in many other fields as well.
